4 out of 5 stars powerful machine!   August 31, 2010
L. Belz (Chicago, IL USA)
I really like this laptop. I purchased it in early April when Newegg had it on sale for $850, and for that price, it's perfect! For anything more, well, it is heavy to lug around (6.3 lbs), and the battery life is NOT what they say it is. I generally got about an hour and a half, at most, but that's with it on full power. But it handles ANYTHING I throw at it without any slowing down in performance. What used to take me three hours of video editing I can now do in 20 minutes, thanks to the core i7 CPU. There is now a Toshiba out there with nearly identical specs for $850, including the same core i7 CPU, but I'm happy for the lightscribe capability of this HP, something that isn't matched by Toshiba's version, which I read only works on DVDs, not CDs as well, as does the HP. Overall, I am delighted with this purchase. I am only giving it 4 stars, not 5, because it's a bit too heavy for me and the battery life (six cell) is not impressive, which admittedly is understandable given the laptop's powerful CPU. Best of all, I can continually backup my work onto an eSata external hard drive with no lag at all in computer performance while I keep on with my various pc work tasks. This is the best pc I've ever had the pleasure to use, whether desktop or laptop.

5 out of 5 stars DV6-2190US   August 8, 2010

The product is just great. Just what I expected. Fun fast and at the right price. The shipping was on time although it was close to the 4th of July. The only negative thing that I noticed is that the battery does not last nearly as long as advertised. Also I have had a bad experience with HP since they initially told me they would send me the 32bit OS which they never did and they wasted a lot of my time since every time the email replies came from a different customer support rep. I am very satisfied with Amazon and I highly recommend this product and the merchant.

5 out of 5 stars HP Pavilion DV6-2190   August 4, 2010

Great computer, Intel I7 - Latest Processor, Windows 7, Nvidia GeForce. I wish it came with Bluetooth. it's very quick and should make just about everybody happy...... but for some reason, the battery gets very hot. If you are one who likes running multiple programs at once, battery life is around two hours and thirty five minutes so bring your power cord wherever you go. Other then that, it's a great bang for your buck, I am very happy with the speed & performance. I recommend you buy it.
If your the type of person who like's to keep the computer sitting on your lap for everyday work, after an hour the battery is going to be Hot Hot Hot, Not a problem if you have a desk or table. If I would have known how hot it gets I might not have bought it myself...
It's the one thing I don't like!

1 out of 5 stars Never buying HP again   July 17, 2010
M. Matarrita
This is the 5th HP laptop I've had in the last 3 years. I've only had it for 5 months and it is constantly freezing and the USB and SD-MD ports work only about half of the time. The HP model I had before this (DV$-1433US) also had problems, it wouldn't boot, again after only 6 months of use. I sent it back to HP and they said that I had spilled some sort of liquid on the keyboard, which was not case. I never spilled anything on it. I asked them to prove it and they sad that if I wanted pictures I would have to pay for them to send them to me!! Before that one, I had an earlier model which also had the same problem, it just wouldn't boot. I was a fan of HP of many years but the last 3 models I've bought have been a big headache. I just bought 2 Toshiba Satellites for almost half the price of HP and a very similar configuration. So far no problems. Adios HP!

1 out of 5 stars Disappointed   June 30, 2010

Computer started freezing after owning it for a month!! We need to turn it on and off several times! we contacted customer service, only to get a barely english speaking foriegner, and they put us through several tests for several hours! They kept giving us the run around by making us perform tests on it! A month later, they told us that we needed to send the computer back to them for at least 2 weeks and they would fix it! They refused to exchange it for another computer. We recieved the "so called fixed" computer back only to have the same problems with it!! Once again, we had to contact the foriegners and they kept giving us the run around!! I believe they wanted our one year warrenty to run out so they did not have to give us a new computer!!
RUN, RUN, RUN, RUN, FROM HP!!! buy yourself another computer!! I will NEVER buy another computer from them again!!
I just lost over $1000.00!!!!
It's alot of money to loose!!!
